Sermon Recap Sunday January 10, 2016
As usual, our Pastor Rev Dr. Marilyn M. Harris gave a Soul Stirring, Thought Provoking Sermon entitled: “What Is Blocking Your Blessings”
Based on Isaiah 59:1-4,
We know that the Arm of God is not short, He does Great and Mighty things and hears us. We sometimes don’t see the Blessings coming. God is still in the Blessing Business. How often do we ask: “What’s the Matter with God?” Deliverance often doesn’t look the way we expected it to look.
She spoke about Myopic Sight, which is the inability to see what God has already done and Mediocre Self Examination, which is the inability to accept responsibility for our actions (the blame game). Our Pastor also pointed out that Consecration is not for us to get something; it’s for us to be something. The barrier to our Blessings is us, not God. It’s not enough to just be connected to God, we must be sure that all of the pieces of our connection to God are working. Don’t be like a lamp that’s plugged in, but has a broken light bulb.
We must make a Magnanimous Confession and have a One on One Relationship with God.
January 6, 2013: “Overflowing Blessings”
Key verse: v10
When a person is frustrated with God’s progress in resolving their problem or showering them with blessings, that person tends to hold back their financial contributions to the house of God in tithes and offering. Holding back on what God shows a lack of trust, humility and submissions to God who will hold back on your blessings and His Presence. God’s arithmetic requires you to have a heart to give away to make room for an overflow of blessings. Your financial breakthrough comes when you pay God first trusting Him to bless you as you also bless others.
January 13, 2013: Good and Plenty”
Scripture: Matthew 6:25-34
Key verse: v33
God takes care of everything and everyone for He is good and has plenty of blessings for all. We should not worry but have a Godly-kingdom perspective which influences our decisions, life style and pursuit of God. Our spiritual and life changing breakthrough comes when we trust God making our priority. Godly priorities help us understand or position in and behind God in order to God’s promises which He provides abundantly. God is good and plenteous providing all that you need.
January 20, 2013: “The Abundant Life”
Scripture: Matthew 25:14-30
Key verse: v29
God has deposited at least one talent into everyone. This gift is treasured blessing for the body of Christ. It should not be withheld or buried in fear, jealousy, or a feeling of inferiority. Your talent is on loan from God who expects you to be a good steward of that gift. It should be used without excuses or reservation. Giving your gift back to God and using it as He directs shows your appreciation. Do whatever you can to glory God. Giving God back the gift is your entrance to your breakthrough into the abundant life.
January 27, 2013: “The Breakthrough”
Scripture: Nahum 1:1-15
Key verse: v13
Never tip-toe around your dilemma! God will empower you to strategically tear away the shackles of spiritual strongholds in high places. God will give you the correct tool to breakthrough debilitating habits, addictions, generational curses, low self-esteem, family secrets, spiritual and emotion of bondage. Nineveh symbolizes the chains and spiritual slavery that entraps so many of God’s people. In the dark places of bondage and self-pity your assignment is to trust that God is orchestrating your breakthrough in His time and the yoke destroying anointing of His Son – Jesus.
